Cusco is getting ready for the 2024 Inti Raymi

The Inti Raymi, which translates from Quechua as Festival of the Sun, is the main activity of the jubilee month of Cusco, which is why it is celebrated on June 24, coinciding with the winter solstice, the shortest day and the longest night of the year. anus.

For the Incas, the sun was the most important deity, worthy of their greatest admiration, as it represented their source of life, and this event was introduced by the Inca Pachacutec in the 15th century. It began as a religious-cultural tradition and six centuries later, it has become a ceremony of tourist and cultural interest.

The Inti Raimy is performed in three places: It begins at 9:00 a.m. in the Qoricancha, one hour later in the main square of Cusco, where the entrance is free; and finally in Sacsayhuaman.

The esplanade of Sacsayhuaman, the main stage of the Inti Raymi, has a capacity of 3,750 people, who will have access to a translation system in four languages (English, French, German, and Spanish) since the script that the Inca interprets is in Quechua.

For this year, 3,750 seats will be offered in Sacsayhuaman and 350 in Qoricancha, and the cost will return to what it was before the COVID-19 pandemic.
