New Lima airport delays inauguration
The inauguration of Lima's new airport has been postponed and a new inauguration date has not yet been confirmed.
The authorities have postponed the inauguration (originally scheduled for March 30) because the new terminal still needs to be tested to ensure its capabilities and provide the best service to passengers. The infrastructure of the new airport is 99% complete, but still needs to receive all the necessary certifications and permits to operate properly.
LAP (Lima Airport Partners), the company in charge of managing Lima's airport, has not yet confirmed whether the new terminal will be operational before July.
As previously reported, the new airport will have four floors for passenger handling and a basement for airport operations. In addition to improving the traveler experience, the development is expected to increase Peru's competitiveness in international trade and tourism.
