A unique exploration

From Yauya to Huaritambo

Since the first year of the foundation of QN Travel Peru, we have decided to bet on the exploration and promotion of the different routes of the Qhapaq Ñan (or Great Inca Trail); and this year we will go on the biggest adventure so far, exploring one of the least travelled sections of this inmense path.

In April 2025, a team of explorers, photographers, and writers will embark on a 5-day expedition to explore one of the best-preserved and most monumental sections of the Inca Road, departing from Yauyo in Ancash and concluding in Huaritambo. Led by John Leviers, author of "Turn Right at Machu Picchu," and Ricardo Chirinos of the Peruvian Ministry of Culture, the team aims to advance knowledge and promote the preservation of this ancient road.

This forgotten section of the Inca Road, which stretches toward Chavin de Huantar, remains little known but features some of the most impressive Inca infrastructure, with roads up to 10 meters wide. The expedition, led by QN (Qhapaq Nan Travel), will focus on road conservation through photography and archaeological collaboration.

The findings will be shared publicly, highlighting how tourism can aid in preservation efforts.
